Mutations in this gene cause ovarian dysgenesis type 1, and also ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Its activation is necessary for the hormonal functioning of FSH. FSHRs are found in the ovary, testis, and uterus.
